Who has the best New Year's celebration in Greece?

I won't be able to do it this year, but I would love to go to Greece for New Year's. Where is the best place to celebrate?

I know Athens must have a celebration, as should Thessaloniki. I think both Athens and Thessaloniki should have fireworks and maybe a lively nightlife?

What about places like Santorini, Mykonos, Crete?

My gut is that when I do this, I would want to stick with one of the main cities, but I do want to have options.

I would personally stick with Athens or one of the cities. The islands can feel a bit quiet in the off season, even though an island like Crete has plenty of people living there.

The New Year's countdown is a night-long celebration in Athens, kicking off with a fireworks display at the iconic Acropolis. Afterward, head to one of the many bars or clubs in the city to continue the party, or join the locals in the streets as they sing and dance until the early morning. The festive atmosphere is contagious, and you'll feel like a true Athenian as you experience this unique celebration.

I think it would be fun to see the fireworks over the Acropolis!
