Is there anything special to do in Crete in the fall?

What is there to do in the off season? Im thinking of taking a trip in October but I'm not sure if it is going to be fun or not. I know that it will probably be too cold to swim, sadly

These all things are presumptions, You may take a chance and make a visit to Greece. And I am pretty much sure you will never forget these memories till the end of our life, like we did. You are not mentioning those problems here, but I am sure If you have a zeal to do it in the near future you will surely do it. Yes If you want any help then telling me, May I will suggest you something better.

Crete is fantastic in the Fall! Most tavernas will be open through October. The water is warm so people often swim right into November. With heat waves over, the skies will be clear blue. Many people hike the gorges and mountains during this time. Crete has exceptional beauty, history, and hospitality. With the tourist crowds diminishing, you’ll be warmly welcomed and I guarantee that you’ll make many new friends and memories to last a lifetime. There is so much to do, depending on your interests…..rent a car and explore the countryside, museums, boat trips……really it’s up to you!

Depending on how long you are there for....olive picking..... Grape picking..... linking up with some wine merchants and crushing grapes old traditional style..... visiting olive oil manufacturers....visiting handicrafts .... May be pottery and ceramic classes.... Cookery classes.!!!..

Driving around is a joy on its own.... visiting different parts of the island.... most Tavernas ate open and welcoming....!! Question for you.... I didn't know you could go olive/grape picking. Do you have to arrange with a farm to do this? Or are there public areas where you can go and roam around?

You can visit the Litsarda Olive Farm or go talk with Stelios in Ntounias Taverna and Farm and I am sure they can let you help and then enjoy the fruits of your labour...literally!

I have been to Crete six times, and four of these have been in October. Everything is open, you can do everything you would during the peak tourist season. The weather is delightful and is still beach weather. The only difference is that it isn't as crowded and busy as it would have been in July or August, the prices are a bit better, and it is isn't as scorching. I experienced clear skies and temperatures at about the mid 80s Fahrenheit.
