A little bit about Kourkoumelata Village

This village has so much history! In 1953, an earthquake destroyed this village and the residents were crippled with social and economic problems because of it. However, a wealthy ship owner, Vergotis Giorgos, who grew up in Kourkoumelata, rebuilt the village to turn things around. Look how beautiful it is

Hiking up Mount Ainos in Kefalonia

This is one of the best hikes you can do on the island, and in the region for sure. It can be a bit difficult for those who aren't experienced, so I do recommend that you hike in a group or with a tour guide. Of course, you don't have to hike all the way up and you can travel part of the way by car. What's important is that you enjoy the views and you do as much as you can. This video showcases the stunning views for anyone who is interested in going.

I am hoping to some day see the sea turtles in Kefalonia and I think next year might be it. I hear they only go at certain times of the year. Does anyone know about this? If I travel in June will I see them? I heard that they also only go to certain beaches? Has anyone here seen them? I am so fascinated by this. I think June might be the best month for me to travel next year and Kefalonia looks like a great place in general.

According to their website, this winery is either the oldest or one of the oldest wineries in Greece. It is a continuation of the Mantzavino Winery and has now been renamed. They have many different varieties of wine, including red wine, white wine, and rosés. Their website has an excellent list of all of their wines, with a detailed description including where the wines come from and possible food pairings with the wines. This is some of the most beautiful Greek traditional music and dance that I have seen. If anyone knows the name of the actual song and the type of dance, please let me know. I hope that one day I'll be able to visit the island and join in on one of the celebrations. I'm not even sure what they're celebrating, but it looks great. If anyone has more information on the video, I would love to know.
