What to do in Corfu for couples?

My partner and I are planning a romantic getaway to Corfu, Greece, and we're looking for some insider tips on the best experiences for couples. We've heard so much about Corfu's natural beauty and rich history, but we're hoping to tailor our itinerary to include activities that are especially romantic.

We're open to anything, whether it's relaxing on secluded beaches, exploring charming villages, enjoying candlelit dinners with stunning views, or embarking on adventurous excursions together. Ideally, we'd love to find a balance between leisurely, romantic moments and exciting adventures that we can share as a couple.

If you were us, what would you do while on the island?
 
I have never been to Corfu but I did some research to help you out:

1. Sunset at Cape Drastis: Make sure to visit Cape Drastis at sunset. The view is breathtaking, with cliffs plunging into the sea and the sun melting into the horizon. It's a serene spot that feels like it’s just you, your partner, and the vast beauty of nature.

2. Dinner in Old Corfu Town: The heart of Corfu beats in its old town. With its narrow, cobblestone streets and Venetian architecture, it offers a unique backdrop for a romantic dinner. Find a cozy taverna with a view of the Liston and enjoy local specialties under the stars.

3. Boat Trip to Paleokastritsa: Renting a small boat to explore the bays and caves of Paleokastritsa can be an exhilarating experience for couples. The water here is incredibly clear, and finding a secluded spot for swimming can add a touch of adventure to your romance.

4. Beach Day at Agios Gordios: This beach is perfect for couples looking for a mix of natural beauty and convenience. The sandy shore is surrounded by lush green cliffs, and there are plenty of loungers and umbrellas for rent. Stick around for the sunset – it’s spectacular here.

5. Visit Canal d’Amour: According to legend, couples who swim through this narrow channel will soon get married. Even if you're already married or not quite there yet, it's a beautiful site worth exploring, with stunning formations and clear blue waters.

Is a week enough in Kefalonia?

I'm thinking about planning a trip to Kefalonia and was wondering if a week is enough time to get a good feel for the island. I don't necessarily need to see absolutely everything, but I'd like enough time to explore without feeling like I'm constantly rushing from place to place.

I'd definitely want to visit some of the well-known spots like Myrtos Beach, Assos, Fiskardo, Melissani Cave, and Argostoli. I'd also like time for a few slower beach days, meals at local tavernas, and maybe some wandering through smaller villages.

For those who have been, does seven days feel like a comfortable amount of time? Would renting a car make it realistic to see a good variety of the island during that time?

I'm also curious if you'd recommend staying in one place for the whole week or splitting the trip between two different areas.

Best Tavernas with Sea Views on Kefalonia

One of the things I always look forward to when traveling in Greece is finding a taverna with a beautiful sea view. There’s just something about sitting outside, looking out over the water, and enjoying a long meal that makes the whole experience feel even more memorable.

I’m hoping to spend some time on Kefalonia and would love to hear your recommendations for tavernas where the view is part of the experience. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy—sometimes the simple places end up being the best—but a great setting overlooking the sea is always a bonus.

Whether it’s a spot above a beach, a harborfront table, or a hillside taverna looking out over the Ionian, I’d love to hear about it.

Tips for Driving on Kefalonia?

I’ve been to Kefalonia several times and absolutely love the island, but oddly enough, I’ve never actually driven there myself. This summer I’m considering renting a car so I can explore a bit more freely, especially some of the smaller villages and the harder-to-reach beaches, but I keep hearing mixed things about the roads.

For those of you who’ve driven in Kefalonia, how challenging is it really? I know there are some steep mountain routes and narrow coastal roads, but are they manageable for someone who’s a decent driver but not used to tight switchbacks? Any tips for navigating the island safely, times of day to avoid, particular routes that are easier for beginners, parking advice, or things you wish you’d known beforehand?

I’d love to finally try driving there, but I want to make sure I’m prepared before booking the car.

Tips for Visiting Drogarati Cave

I’d love to hear your tips for visiting Drogarati Cave. I’ve loved Greece my whole life, I’m Greek, and somehow I’ve never made it to these caves, which feels almost unbelievable to admit. I’m finally starting to plan a trip to Kefalonia, and Drogarati is high on my list.

I’m curious about the practical side as much as the experience itself. Is it best to go early in the day or later? How strenuous is the walk and the stairs, and is it manageable if you want to take your time? I’ve also heard the acoustics are incredible, especially when concerts are held there. Does that change how you experience the space?

Any advice on what to expect, what surprised you, or how to make the visit feel meaningful rather than rushed would be appreciated. I’d love to experience it with the right mindset.

Lixouri for a vacation apartment?

I’m planning a trip to Kefalonia next summer with a big group — family and close friends, around 8–10 people total — and we’re thinking of renting a large vacation apartment or villa. Lixouri keeps popping up as an option, but I don’t know much about it beyond being across the bay from Argostoli.

Is Lixouri a good base for a group stay? We’d love to be somewhere with an authentic Greek feel, good local tavernas, walkable areas, and easy access to beaches. We’ll have a few cars, so driving to other parts of the island isn’t a problem, but we don’t want to feel too isolated either.

For anyone who’s stayed there — what’s your impression of Lixouri? Peaceful and charming or a bit too quiet? Would you recommend it for a larger group vacation?
