I heard that Santorini is a great place for artists and people who admire art. I will be in Santorini for a cruise stop soon, but I will only have time to explore Fira.

I'm planning a trip to the beautiful island of Santorini and, as an enthusiastic art lover, I'm eager to immerse myself in the local art scene. Fira, with its stunning caldera views and charming streets, is on my travel itinerary, and I would love to explore some art galleries while I'm there.

From what I've gathered, Santorini, and Fira in particular, is a hub for vibrant art, showcasing everything from contemporary pieces by local artists to ancient artifacts that narrate the island's rich history. However, with such a plethora of options, it's a bit overwhelming to choose where to start.

Anyone have any advice?

I just went to Santorini and I have been several times before. This time around, I was there on a cruise stop.

We were able to stay through sunset. If you will be there through sunset and you have time to get to Oia, do it! It's worth it - but you need to give yourself plenty of time - it gets so busy. Or you can research other places to view the sunset.

We wandered around in Fira and found a private tour company where we planned our tour and got our own guide. If you can find something like that, do it! It was fun telling them what we wanted to do. For me, a highlight was going to the Red Beach. I wish I had more time for that beach, it was fantastic.

Worst season ever’: How things got ugly on Greece’s ‘Instagram island’

Below is an extract from the article!(Not my opinion which I will write at the end of season)
"When evening comes, however, the crowds melt away, and some complain the island goes from Times Square to ghost town.
'The island is empty’
The truth is that the island is empty. Right now is like never before, it’s the worst season ever
The problem is that the social media are showing something completely different from what is the reality,” he says.
However, when the crowds are gone, “the hotels right now are more or less under 30% of a normal season,” he claims, and says that other businesses on the island are taking a similar hit".

Staying in Oia or Fira in Santorini?

I’m planning a trip to Santorini for the summer of 2025 and need some advice on where to stay. I’ve heard a lot about Oia and Fira, but I can’t decide between the two. Oia looks absolutely stunning with those famous sunsets, but Fira seems to have more going on with shops, restaurants, and nightlife.

For those of you who have been, which would you recommend for a first-time visitor? Or is there another place on the island that’s even better to stay? I’m looking for a spot with great views, but also somewhere that isn’t too hard to get around from. I don’t mind a bit of hustle and bustle, but I’d also like some time to relax.

Any tips or personal experiences would be really appreciated. Thank you!

Alternatives to Oia for Sunset

Hey everyone! Last time I was in Oia, I could barely see the sunset – it was so packed with people! This time, I’m hoping to find a quieter spot to soak in the view without the huge crowds.
I’ve heard Imerovigli might be a good alternative with great caldera views – has anyone watched the sunset from there? Or maybe Firostefani? I’d love recommendations for beautiful, more relaxed spots where I can actually see the sunset.

I’m looking for that iconic Santorini vibe but with fewer people around. Even a nice bar or café with a great view would be perfect! If you’ve found any hidden gems or favorite places to catch the sunset, I’d be grateful for the tips. I want to enjoy the magic of Santorini’s sunset without feeling overwhelmed.

Best places to dine in Santorini?

I'm planning a trip to Santorini and I’m super excited about exploring the local food scene! I've heard the island has some amazing dining options, from traditional Greek tavernas to fine dining with stunning views.

Do you have any recommendations for must-visit restaurants or hidden gems? Whether it's a place with incredible sunset views, the best moussaka, or a spot known for fresh seafood, I'd love to hear your suggestions.

Thanks in advance for your tips!

Renting a Jet Ski in Santorini?

I’m planning a trip to Santorini and I’m really looking forward to hitting the water. I’m particularly interested in renting a jet ski to explore the coastline, but I’ve never done it before in Greece, so I’d love some advice.

Can anyone recommend the best places in Santorini to rent a jet ski? I’m looking for a reputable rental spot with good-quality equipment and fair prices. Also, are there any specific areas around the island that are especially great to explore by jet ski, like hidden beaches or cool rock formations?

I’d also appreciate any tips on what to expect in terms of safety, required licenses, or permits for jet skiing in Santorini. Is it worth booking in advance, or is it easy to rent on the spot?
