Agistri is an easy ferry ride from Athens (Piraeus) and it is possible to spend the day. I hear the beaches alone are fantastic! I don't like to plan a lot when I visit Greece, but I want to make sure I set aside time for a beach day here. Which beaches are the best? A few options I've found:

Aponissos Beach - Located on the southern part of the island, it is only reached by boat, which makes it feel pretty secluded. A great, quiet spot, but there are sun loungers and umbrellas available for rent. There is also a great taverna here.

Chalkiada Beach - This beach on the eastern side of the island is known for its unique white pebbles. The turquoise waters and unspoiled natural surroundings make it a favorite among nature lovers. There are no facilities on this beach. Chalkiada is also a great spot for watching the sunset.

Skala Beach - The largest and most popular beach on the island, Skala boasts a wide stretch of golden sand and crystal-clear waters. There are plenty of opportunities for water sports and other activities, such as beach volleyball. Skala Beach has a variety of bars and restaurants nearby, where you can enjoy a cool drink or a meal while admiring the breathtaking views.

Dragonera Beach - This secluded pebble beach on the southwestern part of the island is a hidden gem, accessible only by foot or by boat. The surrounding cliffs provide a stunning backdrop, and the clear waters are perfect for swimming. There are no facilities here either.

Megalochori Beach - Situated on the northern side of the island, Megalochori beach is quieter and less crowded than some of the other beaches on Agistri. The pebble beach is surrounded by a dense pine forest. You can rent sun loungers and umbrellas, and there are a few beach bars serving snacks and drinks.

I liked Aponissos. There is nothing special about Skala. Mariza, which you don't have listed, is also nice.

This is excellent advice - I plan to visit Agistri next time I am in Greece and I heard the beaches, in general, are really nice! Ellinasgolfer, I will plan to visit Apnissos and Mariza - those seem like two good ones to start with!

redsoxdw Chalkiada beach is not for nature lovers. It is a Naturist ( nudist ) beach

Places to go for the first time in Greece?

A friend of mine is planning her first trip to Greece, and she asked me what she should prioritize for about 10 days. I’ve been lucky enough to go quite a few times, so I gave her a starting point: Athens for the history, Santorini for the views, and Mykonos for the energy and beaches.

She loved that outline, but she wants to add one more destination to round out the trip. That’s where I started second guessing myself a bit, because there are so many good options depending on what kind of experience she wants.

I was thinking maybe somewhere a little different to balance things out, but I’m curious what others would suggest. If you had 10 days and those three spots already planned, what would be your fourth destination for a first-time visitor?

Best food towns to visit in Greece?

I’ve started realizing that some of my favorite memories from Greece are connected to food more than anything else. Little tavernas, bakeries, seafood by the water, village meals that seemed simple but tasted incredible. It’s making me think that next time I go to Greece, I’d love to plan at least part of the trip around food.

I’m not fully sure yet if I’ll be going this summer, but I’ve been daydreaming about possible places to visit. What towns or regions in Greece do you think are especially great for food lovers?

I’d love recommendations for places known for traditional cooking, local specialties, seafood, baked goods, or just amazing tavernas in general. Islands, mainland towns, mountain villages — all recommendations are welcome.

Would especially love hearing about places that felt authentic and memorable rather than overly touristy.

Family Car Services for First Timer in Boston

Hi everyone, I’m planning a family trip to Boston from Athens and was searching for car service from options airport to my hotel online. While exploring, I came across Blue Nile Livery. I also noticed their service is featured on Google and even highlighted on Forbes, along with positive reviews on several travel sites. Based on what I’ve seen there, their service seems good to me... Since this trip is with my family, I want something safe, comfortable, and punctual for airport transfers and city travel. I’d love to hear from anyone who has used a ride service in Boston. Do you think this would be a good choice for family travel?

Best Way to Get a Car Service to JFK Airport Before a Flight to Greece?

Hi everyone, I'm flying out of JFK next month for a trip to Greece and trying to figure out the best way to get to the airport without the usual stress. My flight leaves early in the morning, and I don't want to deal with parking for two weeks or ask a family member to drive me at 4 a.m. I've been looking into booking a car service to JFK Airport instead of a rideshare, mainly because international flights need more buffer time, and I'd rather have a proper chauffeur waiting curbside than risk a driver cancelling at the last minute with all my luggage in tow. A friend of mine recently used Blue Nile Livery for a JFK run and said her chauffeur showed up early, helped load the bags, and tracked the flight the whole way, so she suggested I try them for this trip too.
I'm still trying to figure out whether it's worth booking the chauffeur service a few days in advance or if that's overkill for a domestic pickup, whether a sedan is fine or if an SUV is smarter given how much luggage most of us end up hauling back and forth to Greece, and if anyone has had a chauffeur reroute or adjust pickup timing because of a flight delay before an international departure. For those of you who fly out of JFK often for trips back to Greece, what's worked best for you, and is there a chauffeur service you'd genuinely recommend for an early morning run like this? Any tips appreciated!

Summer Island Hopping Tips - a Month in July

It’s been a while since I’ve traveled in Greece during peak season, and I’m considering spending about a month there in July. The plan is to split my time between Athens (to visit friends) and hopping to several islands. I’m excited about the energy of summer, but I’m also aware that July can be intense in terms of crowds, heat, and logistics.

For those who have done island hopping in high season, what worked well for you? Is it better to base yourself on one or two islands and take short trips, or fully move around every few days? How far in advance do you typically book ferries and accommodations in July?

I’m also curious about pacing. With a full month, I don’t want to rush, but I also want to make the most of being there. Any tips on routes, balance, or things to avoid during peak season would be really helpful.
