Ferry service resumes between Turkish destinations and Rhodes!

For those of you that are traveling to Turkey from Greece using the ferry or vice versa, you are in luck! The ferry services are being re introduced which is great news especially for those that are traveling on a budget. The ferries were close down because of covid and have been closed for some time. Every Friday and Sunday there is a 45 minute boat ride from Fethiye, Turkey to Rhodes. This is such a quick trip and will definitely be cheaper than taking most flights! Has anyone taken this route? Unfortunately I have not and cannot provide tips from personal experience.
 
The ferries were not closed due to COVID. Political reasons were why & the services stopped before COVID. I am not sure if they restart this year.

Enjoy Nature in Rhodes Question

I’m heading to Rhodes soon, and I’m really looking forward to exploring the island’s natural beauty. I’ve heard that Rhodes is not just about beautiful beaches and historical sites but also offers some amazing opportunities to connect with nature. I’m hoping to get some advice on the best ways to enjoy the natural landscapes there.

Are there any specific hiking trails or nature reserves that are a must-visit? I’m particularly interested in scenic walks, quiet spots for bird watching, or any unique natural features like waterfalls or viewpoints. Also, are there guided tours that you would recommend for exploring nature, or is it easy to navigate on your own?

Ancient Kamiros: Worth Visiting?

’m heading to Rhodes soon and putting together my list of historical sites to check out. I’ve got Lindos and the Old Town locked in, but I keep coming across Ancient Kamiros—and I’m torn on whether it’s worth the detour.

I’m into ancient ruins and Greek history, but I’ve already seen places like Knossos and Delphi, so I’m wondering how Kamiros compares. Is it well-preserved? Do you need a guide to really appreciate it, or is it still impressive if you go solo?

Also curious how long to budget for the visit—just a quick look or something you can really explore for a couple of hours?

Would love to hear your honest takes: is Kamiros worth the trip, or should I focus on other sites while I’m on the island? Thanks in advance!

water level in rhodes dams

apollikia & gadouras dams have very low water level right now on 24 november 2024 .they are the only 2 dams on rhodes & supply water to the island population . at apollikia water has been turned off to stop irregation of local crops .farmers are not happy .weeks of rain will be needed fill the dams .

Greek generosity

I was shopping in my favourite supermarket this morning near my apartment . It was the name day of a member of staff . From a box , He offered me a cream cake. I was so grateful to him .

I’m planning a trip to Rhodes soon and would love some advice on the best places for local shopping. I’m especially interested in finding authentic products like handmade crafts, jewelry, local wines, and olive oil. Are there specific markets or shops that you recommend for buying unique Rhodian goods?

I’ve heard the Old Town is a great spot for shopping, but I’d love to know more about what I can expect there, or if there are other areas on the island worth checking out. Any tips on haggling, or should I expect fixed prices? Also, if anyone knows where I can find good quality local ceramics or textiles, that would be wonderful. Thanks in advance!
