For those of you that are traveling to Turkey from Greece using the ferry or vice versa, you are in luck! The ferry services are being re introduced which is great news especially for those that are traveling on a budget. The ferries were close down because of covid and have been closed for some time. Every Friday and Sunday there is a 45 minute boat ride from Fethiye, Turkey to Rhodes. This is such a quick trip and will definitely be cheaper than taking most flights! Has anyone taken this route? Unfortunately I have not and cannot provide tips from personal experience.

The ferries were not closed due to COVID. Political reasons were why & the services stopped before COVID. I am not sure if they restart this year.

This was the article I found in writing this post... I assumed there was some political influence but I wasn't sure... thanks

5 Day Itinerary for Rhodes Recommendation

I’m planning a 5-day trip to Rhodes and could use some advice on how to make the most of my time there. I want to experience a mix of history, culture, beaches, and local cuisine.

If you’ve been to Rhodes before, what would you recommend as must-see spots and activities? Should I spend more time exploring the Old Town, or are there other areas of the island that I shouldn’t miss?

I’m also interested in any tips on where to stay, great places to eat, and any hidden gems that might not be in the typical guidebooks.

Any advice on how to structure my days would be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to hearing your suggestions!

Any Good Nightlife in Rhodes?

I am researching the possibility of going to Rhodes but there is someone in our party who likes nightlife. Can anyone share recommendations on the best places to go for a fun night out? I'm interested in a mix of experiences, from vibrant clubs to cozy bars. What are the must-visit spots for dancing, enjoying live music, or just having a relaxing drink with a great view?

Additionally, are there any particular areas in Rhodes known for their nightlife that I should check out? I'm also curious about any local customs or tips for enjoying the nightlife scene safely and respectfully.

I'd love to hear about any hidden gems or popular favorites that shouldn't be missed. Looking forward to your suggestions and any personal experiences you can share!

moving to rhodes & problems

I was asked today by a british couple about moving post brexit. It is extremely difficult.first you have the 90 day rule meaning you have to leave after 3 months. So In that time , you have to either find a landlord willing to give a contract or purchase a property. To do the latter you must employ a greek lawyer & a greek accountant.then you can apply for a biometric residents card ( mine took 2 months & many visits to the greek police.you need the card to apply for a greek driving licence. ( you cannot drive long term on a UK licence ) . Once yoy reach 76 you cannot rent a car . Also need the card to apply for IKA book.that entitles you to health care.proof of address is required to get a phone line & broadband.you also need a contract or property deeds to get water & electric supply.a landlord may already have those & you will get the bills from them .
I am so gratefull I moved before Brexit.

Eating Like a Local in Rhodes?

When I go to Rhodes next I'd like to really dive into the local food scene. I always prefer eating where the locals do rather than sticking to touristy spots. I've heard that Rhodes has some amazing traditional tavernas and hidden gems when it comes to food, but I'm not sure where to start.

Does anyone have recommendations for authentic places to eat in Rhodes? I’m particularly interested in trying local specialties like moussaka, fresh seafood, and maybe some lesser-known dishes that I wouldn’t find in guidebooks. Also, if there are any tips on what times are best to go, or how to order like a local, I'd love to hear them!
Share and discuss your Rhodes photos, questions and experiences!
