Greek Ferry Travel - Should I Book Tickets in Advance?

When planning a trip to Greece, I always wonder if I should book ferry tickets in advance or not. Is there any benefit to it or am I better off waiting?

Great question! Every time I have taken a ferry while traveling the islands in Greece, I always book online in advance. So much easier than doing it in person (which can be confusing sometimes), here is some good info to consider:

I always recommend booking in advance, especially if you're thinking of bringing a car on the boat. The ferries can fill up pretty quickly. You only need to book like one or two days in advance though. I usually go in person because sometimes they don't update the websites with the right information.

Yes book in advance!!! My husband insisted that you just go to the port the morning of and get a ticket, he said it was the 'Greek way". Well the Greek way ended up with us sitting at a cafe for 5 hours waiting for the next ferry that had room for our rental car!!!
