Besides the fact that there are so many restrictions, island hopping will be a bit risky because there are so many people that are going to be traveling back and forth on the islands, increasing your risk of getting covid. In my opinion, the best thing to do while traveling in Greece this year is to pick one spot and stay there! You will be able to explore and be in contact with way less people.

Yes...this is so true. Be careful this summer, there are many restrictions and you don't want to get in trouble with the authorities

We will be traveling to Crete for a week and then to Rhodes for a week in September. I have looked at the Greece Gov sight and would like to know where I can find some of the restrictions you mention. We are all fully vaccinated and will take a covid test within the 72 hour period. Is there more information I need? Thanks.

Even without a pandemic, this is how I ideally enjoy Greece the best - by staying in one place. I really love getting to know a region for all of its beauty, and staying in the same place helps me really get to know the people, too. The fact that it is a safety risk moving around all over the place makes staying in one spot even more appealing!

We do go island hopping. We did 3 islands last year and it felt really safe. I hope it will be the same this year. It is all really up to yourself. Keep your distance or wear a mask ( the right way) and keep clean and get vaccinated. If you don't feel safe in a place, just go somewhere else.

That's a good point. I guess you can always take measures to be careful

Cycladic Islands in Greece 'Threatened by Surge in Tourism!

Sustainable Travel to Greece?

I'm currently planning a trip to Greece and am passionate about making my travel as sustainable and eco-friendly as possible. Given the beauty and historical significance of Greece, I want to ensure that my visit contributes positively to the environment and local communities there.

Does anyone have any tips or experiences they could share on sustainable travel practices in Greece? I'm looking for advice on everything from eco-friendly accommodations, sustainable dining options, to ways of exploring the country that minimize my carbon footprint. Also, if there are specific activities or tours that support local conservation efforts or communities, I'd love to hear about those too!

Travel Tips for Naxos

I'm planning a trip to the island of Naxos soon and I'm reaching out for some guidance and tips.

First off, I've heard that Naxos is a haven for foodies – any recommendations on local foods I absolutely must try or the best places to eat?

Exploring the cultural heritage of Naxos is also high on my agenda. I understand there are plenty of historical sites and ruins that abound. For those of you who've wandered the island's ancient paths, which historical spots would you say I need to see??

Also, I’d love to hear about your favorite beaches. Are there any hidden gems I should know about? Places that aren’t too crowded perhaps?

Thanks!

When does tourist season end in Greece?

I am planning my next Greek trip.

I want to go in October but the people I am traveling with - we won't be able to to go until mid-October.

I have been to Crete that late in the year and to Athens, but not anywhere else. On our schedule is to visit some of the smaller islands, like Hydra.

Do places like that shut down? My main concern is, will the tourist shops be closed? I love to browse through them and it's part of my enjoyment.

Greek Islands Food Tour?

I am a foodie and I love to cook. Does anyone know of any food tour situations that I can do in the islands, or maybe island hopping?

I am in the midst of planning an exciting adventure to Greece and am particularly interested in experiencing the country through its cuisine. I've heard that island hopping offers not just stunning views but also a taste of local flavors that differ from island to island.

With so many beautiful islands, from the renowned Santorini to the charming Skopelos, I'm looking for recommendations on food tours or culinary experiences that are part of island hopping packages. Any recommendations you may have would be great!
