Visiting Assos Village in Kefalonia is a fantastic idea! This picturesque village is known for its charming, traditional Greek atmosphere, with colorful houses and narrow streets. Be sure to visit the Venetian Castle for stunning views and a glimpse into the island's history. The beach at Assos is small but beautiful, perfect for a relaxing swim in crystal-clear waters. Enjoy fresh seafood at one of the local tavernas while taking in the scenic harbor views. For the best experience, plan to stay a night or two to fully soak in the tranquility and beauty of this hidden gem.
 
As above . The best way to see Kefalonia is to rent a car, public transport is not great . If you are American , Australian or Canadian, you don't need international drivers permit to rent a car. These days you can't drive up to the fortress, you have to be reasonably fit to walk up in summer. First think in the morning is best. While you are at Assos don't forget to visit one of the best beaches, Myrtos beach. The island is very busy in the summer months, May or September is best if you don't like crowds.

I have a bucket list of going to Kefalonia while the turtles are on the beaches. I love turtles and this seems like a really beautiful thing.
