My travel agent here in Australia said that when I travel to Greece my passport must have at least 6 months left before expiry.

This differs from country to country.

Does anyone know if this is a Greek government requirement?

Thanks

This is correct. I was told the same-thing here in the US prior to my last trip to Greece this past Fall. Have fun !

That is true for most if not all countries I believe.

I think it is an EU thing as a whole - I was told this not only for Greece, but for a trip to Germany I took a few years ago.

And what is the reason exactly?
Why do passports need a buffer for travel? This is mostly due to visa precautions – ensuring that you have valid documents at the point of departure. Governments tend to err on the side of caution, factoring in any unforeseen circumstances that may extend your stay.
This is why some countries are more conservative than others when it comes to buffer times. Most European and Asian countries require six months’ passport validity from your departure date.

There are a few countries that only require 3 months but most need 6.

I don't see any problem there in Australia we get 10 year passports so it is only once every 10 years that I need to renew it .

Hey there! I recently traveled to Greece, and I can share my experience with you. It's true that some countries require your passport to have a certain amount of validity left before entering. In Greece, they do have a requirement of at least 3 months of validity remaining on your passport from the date of your departure. So, the 6-month rule might not be applicable specifically to Greece. However, it's always a good idea to check with the Greek embassy or consulate just to be sure about the latest requirements. Speaking of travel, I stumbled upon this interesting article about different types of IDs people use when they're on the road, like the best texas fake ids. It's crazy how resourceful people can get, right?

Is Island Hopping Worth the Effort?

I've been thinking about trying an island-hopping trip the next time I visit Greece, but I'm wondering if it's actually worth the extra planning and travel time. In the past I've usually picked one island and stayed there for the duration of my vacation, which has been relaxing and let me really get to know the area.

Part of me loves the idea of experiencing several islands in one trip since they each seem to have their own personality, food, scenery, and traditions. On the other hand, I wonder if constantly packing, catching ferries, and checking into new accommodations takes away from the experience.

For those of you who have island-hopped, did you feel it was worth it? How many islands did you visit, and did you wish you had spent more time in fewer places? I'd love to hear your itineraries, tips, and whether you'd do it the same way again.

Festivals of Note for 2026 in Greece?

My family and I are starting to think about a possible trip to Greece in 2026, and this time we’re considering planning part of the trip around a festival or cultural celebration. We’ve been to Greece before, but we’ve never really organized a trip around a specific event.

I know Greece has so many interesting traditions throughout the year. Because of that, I’m starting to gather ideas early while we figure out where we might want to go.

Have any of you traveled to Greece specifically to experience a festival? If so, which ones would you recommend? It could be religious celebrations, food festivals, music events, or local village festivals.
I’d love to hear about any memorable festival experiences that might help us shape our 2026 plans.

Family Car Services for First Timer in Boston

Hi everyone, I’m planning a family trip to Boston from Athens and was searching for car service from options airport to my hotel online. While exploring, I came across Blue Nile Livery. I also noticed their service is featured on Google and even highlighted on Forbes, along with positive reviews on several travel sites. Based on what I’ve seen there, their service seems good to me... Since this trip is with my family, I want something safe, comfortable, and punctual for airport transfers and city travel. I’d love to hear from anyone who has used a ride service in Boston. Do you think this would be a good choice for family travel?

Ferry vs flying between islands, what’s better?

I’ve always been a ferry guy when it comes to Greece, something about pulling into a port and seeing the island come into view just feels right. But this trip is a little different because I’m traveling with someone who gets pretty motion sick, so now I’m seriously considering flying between islands instead.

Curious what you guys think, ferry vs flying, what’s actually better?

I know ferries are part of the whole island-hopping experience, and they’re usually more flexible, but I’ve also had a couple rough rides when the water wasn’t calm. On the flip side, flights seem quicker and smoother, but maybe more hassle overall.

If you’ve done both, what would you recommend, especially in a situation like this? Is flying the smarter move, or are ferries still worth it if you plan carefully?

A Greek Architect’s Guide to Choosing a Professional CT Limo Service

I’m originally from Greece and work as an architect, and due to a recent job rotation, I’ve relocated to Connecticut for corporate projects. Since I’m still getting familiar with the area, I’ve been researching reliable CT limo service options for business travel, airport transfers, and professional meetings. I’ve noticed there are several technical factors people often overlook, such as fleet maintenance standards, chauffeur training, proper licensing, insurance coverage, and real-time ride tracking, all of which seem important for safety and reliability. I came across Wood Black Car Service during my comparisons, which piqued my curiosity about how different companies manage their operations behind the scenes. For those who regularly use limousine services in Connecticut, what features or standards do you think matter most when choosing a truly professional provider?
