I'm planning a trip to Rhodes and considering renting a car to explore the island. I've heard mixed reviews about car rental experiences in different travel destinations, so I wanted to get some firsthand advice from this community.

Here are a few questions I have:

  1. Best Rental Agencies: Which car rental companies would you recommend in Rhodes? Are there any local agencies that offer better deals or service than the international chains?
  2. Pricing: What should I expect in terms of daily rental rates? Are there any hidden fees I should be aware of?
  3. Driving Conditions: How are the road conditions in Rhodes? Is it easy to navigate for someone not familiar with the area?
  4. Insurance: What kind of insurance coverage is advisable? Is it better to get additional insurance from the rental company or rely on my credit card coverage?
  5. Booking: Is it better to book in advance online or can I get better deals by renting on arrival?
Any tips, experiences, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance.

Last year (July) we stayed at the Casino. We rented a car for 6 days from Port Cars, from their office opposite the casino. It was a new, (2000 km on the clock) manual Citroen C5. It cost 55 Euro per day, everything included besides fuel. Excellent service, they will deliver to your hotel or airport. We would have got it delivered to the airport but the Hotel picked us up and retuned us to the airport.
You can take extra insurance if you like to cover the deductible but we never do, our CC covers it.
Easy to drive around Rhodes, roads are better than most Greek islands, we went all over the island .
Book in advance, especially if you are going between June and September.
We paid 55 Euro via Paypal and they held the car for us. If you don't drive manual they have automatics too.
If you are American, Canadian or Australian, you don't need international drivers permit.

Enjoy your trip to Rhodes ..

A family firm based in Faliraki but will deliver anywhere.
I have used them for over 15 years & no problems

There's some great advice here! Typically when I visit Greece, I don't feel I need a car the whole time - I don't really like driving in Greece that much. Sometimes, I do need a car for a few days, and the hotel usually arranges one for me. I did hear the it is easier to drive in Rhodes than some places.

Do NOT use a hotel to book car hire . they will charge you a fee.look for a family based company, not one of the multinationals.

Rhodes for History Lovers: Where Should You Go?

I've been to Rhodes before and absolutely loved the history there. Walking through the Old Town, visiting the Palace of the Grand Master, and exploring Lindos were some of my favorite experiences. There's a chance I may return in early fall this year or next year if the trip comes together.

This time, though, I'd be traveling with someone who is a serious history buff, so I feel like I need to take my planning up a notch. Beyond the well-known sites, what historical locations in Rhodes would you recommend? Are there any lesser-known ruins, museums, archaeological sites, or villages that history lovers shouldn't miss?

I'd also love suggestions for guided tours, books, or resources that helped you better understand the island's history before visiting. What would be on your must-see list for someone who wants to really dive into Rhodes' past?

What Part of Rhodes Feels Most “Local”?

I might be visiting friends in Rhodes this summer, and I’m trying to figure out which parts of the island feel the most local and authentic versus heavily touristy.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ll definitely check out the major spots and beaches, but I usually enjoy the places where you can actually slow down a little, grab a coffee, sit at a taverna, and get more of a feel for everyday life on the island.

My friends have mentioned that Rhodes has very different vibes depending on where you are, especially once you get away from the main tourist areas.

So I’m curious what people here would recommend. Are there any places that really capture the atmosphere of the island beyond the typical tourist experience?

How do I start a successful livestream production service?

Been messing around with livestreaming for friends and small events, and people keep telling me I should turn it into a real service. I love the tech side and the creative chaos, but I have zero clue how to start making it into a paid thing without crashing and burning. Gear upgrades, pricing, finding clients, handling the pressure of live stuff... it's all swirling in my head. If anyone here has built a service like this or works in production, I’d love some real talk on what actually works and what to avoid.
