my wife & I live on rhodes. we enjoy taking tourists around . so far this year its been 7 couples. would have been more . 3 couples failed to turn up outside their hotels.4 phoned to say they were ill. This is priceless. one lot phoned the night before to say they had forgotten an appointment at hairdressers. their loss. we do not expect a lot just a contribution towards our lunch.

on 27 & 28 september also 3 october taking 3 more couples around

the couple we were to be taking today 27 september text to say friends had arranged for them to do something instead. I hope it was not weather dependant. Its raining .

the couple we were to take today 28 september sent a text to say the wife was extremley ill & needs to be near the toilet. so have cancelled

just as we got to the hotel this morning ,had a text message to say the wife was ill. not really surprised. As its close to end of season not many tourists here now, we will not be offering to take any more this year

Tips for Exploring the Ancient City of Kamiros

I might go to Rhodes and would really like to visit the Ancient City of Kamiros while I’m there. I love exploring archaeological sites, and from the photos and information I’ve seen, Kamiros looks fascinating. I’m especially interested in seeing the layout of the ancient city and learning more about what daily life would have been like there.

For those who have visited, do you have any tips for making the most of the experience? How much time would you recommend allowing to explore the site without feeling rushed? Is there enough information posted around the ruins, or would it be helpful to read about the history beforehand or bring a guidebook?

I’d also love to know about practical details, such as the best time of day to visit, how much walking is involved, and whether there are any other nearby places worth combining with Kamiros on the same day.

What do you love most about Rhodes?

I’ve been reading about Rhodes lately, and the more I learn, the more it seems like a place that offers a little bit of everything. The island has such an interesting mix of history, beaches, beautiful villages, and great food. The Old Town alone looks incredible, with its medieval streets, stone buildings, and all that history around every corner.

At the same time, people talk a lot about the beaches, the clear water, and places like Lindos with its white houses and views of the acropolis. It seems like Rhodes manages to balance culture, scenery, and relaxation really well.

For those of you who have visited, what stands out the most when you think back on your trip? Was it a specific place, like a beach or village, or more the overall atmosphere of the island?

I’d love to hear what made Rhodes special for you and what left the biggest impression.
