Hands down, the best place to get a covid test is the Athens airport. I suggest you take test when you land and before you arrive, as its likely that you're staying in the city and not near the airport (the airport is a bit of a drive from downtown Athens). There are antigen and PCR tests that allow for a day long window, meaning you don't need to arrive at a specific time to take the test. There is usually a bit of a wait but the process is smooth.

We live in Alimos and have a walk in testing site that can do either rapid or PCR. Our most recent guests walked to the site and got their tests for their flight to the US for 10 euro. It is recommended that you bring your passport and ensure that your birthdate is correct. If you are using verifly, emphasize that you need the results emailed in English.

Great advice, I forgot my passport number when I went last and it was so frustrating. Some airlines require that you have your passport number on the covid test.

COVID what's that?
Why are you still talking about this lie

Best shopping in Athens?

I'm planning a trip to Athens and I'm a bit of a shopaholic. I want to make the most of my time there and experience the best shopping the city has to offer.

From what I've heard, Athens is a treasure trove of markets, boutiques, and shops - but I'd really appreciate some local or experienced insights.

Could anyone recommend:
  • The best areas for unique, local finds?
  • Any specific stores known for quality Greek goods?
  • Tips for navigating the markets?
I've only done historical things in Athens and visited friends. I have never taken the time to shop, but I will have plenty of time in Athens over the summer.

Visiting Mount Lycabettus Question

I have never been to Mount Lycabettus, although I've been to Athens a handful of times - it just never came up to go here.

Here are some questions I have:

A few specific questions I have include:
  • What's the best time of day to visit Mount Lycabettus? Is it good at sunset?
  • Are there any hiking trails that you'd recommend?
  • How difficult is the trek up the hill? Is it suitable for beginners or those not used to hiking?
  • Is the funicular railway worth the ride, or is it better to walk?
  • Are there any facilities (like cafes or restrooms) available at the top or along the way?
  • Do you have any safety tips or things to watch out for?
Thanks in advance!

This is what Athens looks like today!!

Fun Side Trips While Staying in Athens

I've been to Athens. I have done side trips from Athens. Still, I love Rick Steve's work and I found this interesting! He visited some of the places I've seen, but frankly, he made me want to see them again. This was a fun watch!

One of the places I haven't been that he mentioned is Hydra. Such a cool-looking place.
