In my research about the island of Rhodes, I have spent a lot of time learning about the Knights of Saint John and their influence on the island. Then I realized that there's an ancient history here, too.

Has anyone visited the Lindos Acropolis? Do you think I should take a tour or can I learn about it on my own?

I plan to visit next September - do I need to book things in advance? From what I understand the island gets pretty hot, so I was hoping some of the heat would mitigated in September.

you can climb up to the acropolis without the need of a guide.be warned the climb is on worn stone steps & part way there is no hand rail.Lindos in september will be very crowded.Buses will be packed & you could be standing for the entire journey of about 90 mins. It will be 30 C plus in september.

I remember going in August several years ago and it was hot and crowded. Rhodes seemed hotter than everywhere else I went during the trip! Sounds like September is hot and crowded, too. Once you start climbing the Acropolis in Lindos the crowd thins out as you get to the top. All fitness levels can do it. Just take it slow and wear good shoes.

Visiting the Lindos Acropolis is a must-see for anyone interested in history and ancient architecture. The Acropolis is located in the village of Lindos on the island of Rhodes in Greece and features well-preserved ruins of a temple dedicated to Athena, as well as a fortress built by the Knights of Saint John. The views from the top of the acropolis are also stunning, offering a panoramic view of the village and the Aegean Sea. It is a unique experience to walk through the ancient city and imagine how it was in the past.

Update on Rhodes after the fires?

I know that Rhodes had a rough summer. I am starting to think about planning my trip to Greece for September 2024. I don't know yet what my plan is, but I always wanted to go to Rhodes to see the Lindos Acropolis area and the Knights of Saint John. I have some people in my party who are history buffs and they would be thrilled if we finally went. We didn't go last year because of all that was going on in the island.

But, I am starting to see Rhodes appear again on Cruise itineraries, and cruising might be a possibility for us because we will be traveling with multiple generations.

For those of you who know the island well, or even might know people on the island, what do you think?

Have you been to the casino in Rhodes?

I would love to visit the casino in Rhodes! But I've never gambled in Greece, what is it like?

Nightlife in Rhodes - Faliraki

I have some friends who went to Rhodes last year and they said they observed that Faliraki has some good nightlife. Is this true?

Could anyone share some insider tips or personal experiences about the best spots to enjoy the evening?

Specifically, I’m looking for:
  • Clubs that have a great atmosphere and awesome music.
  • Bars or pubs where I can meet new people and have some good conversation.
  • Any places known for live music or unique entertainment.
I will only be there for a few days and I might only have a night to spend doing that kind of thing before I move on to another part of Greece. Trying to see a lot this time.

Best Historical Landmarks to See in Rhodes

I am working on planning a trip to Rhodes and am trying to prioritize which ones I should see. I've come up with a list. Did I miss anything? Realistically, I might only have time to see about 5 places, but I want more on the list than I can see so I can decide what seems the most interesting to me.

Here's what I have:
  1. Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights of Rhodes
  2. Rhodes Old Town Walls
  3. Acropolis of Lindos
  4. Street of the Knights
  5. Archaeological Museum of Rhodes
  6. Castle of Monolithos
  7. Kallithea Springs
  8. Ancient Kamiros
  9. Ancient Ialysos
  10. Ancient Kameiros
