Hey everyone, I'm looking to find some small villages in Kefalonia to visit while I'm there. I really like to travel on the offbeat and path and get to know locals, is there anywhere I can do that on the island? I'm super adventurous and open to anything. The more authentic the better.

Agia Effimia is a pretty little village off the beaten path.

The Iakovitios Library which is located in a village called Lixouri in Kefalonia is a good place to visit for sure!

Agia Efimina is so beautiful!! If you want to explore the coastline you can rent a boat and see the various beaches and coves, may of which are secluded and only accessible this way. Another way to enjoy the waters of this village is to go diving. There are 13 dive sites on the village!!

Assos is one of the hidden gems on the island. It’s quite a zig zag drive through mountainous terrain but well worth the trip when you turn the last corner and this magical paradise comes into sight. Enjoy ☺️

I loved going to Fiscado which also has its own Nautical and Environmental Museum where you can learn about the nautical history of Fiscardo! So cool!

If you are near Argostoli you could visit Fragkata and look for the old ruined village houses - https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place...56b7530d44a1d62!8m2!3d38.1780109!4d20.5773168 - then continue through the Omala Valley to the Monastery of St Gerasimos (patron saint of Kefalonia). Also try Farakalata and Dilinata for a village feel with a mix of modern and old pre earthquake properties.

If you are on the other side of the island try Drakoupalata near Agia Efimia and also make your way up to Themata Monastery for some amazing views.

What to do in Corfu for couples?

My partner and I are planning a romantic getaway to Corfu, Greece, and we're looking for some insider tips on the best experiences for couples. We've heard so much about Corfu's natural beauty and rich history, but we're hoping to tailor our itinerary to include activities that are especially romantic.

We're open to anything, whether it's relaxing on secluded beaches, exploring charming villages, enjoying candlelit dinners with stunning views, or embarking on adventurous excursions together. Ideally, we'd love to find a balance between leisurely, romantic moments and exciting adventures that we can share as a couple.

If you were us, what would you do while on the island?

Making Christopsomo- Christmas Bread

I will be traveling to Greece this Christmas and I want to make some Christopsomo to give to my family when I go. I have never made it and want to run something by you - do these ingredients look right? It looks very similar to tsoureki to me but with a lot of spices. I am also nervous there's too much flour in the recipe.

- 8 cups or so of all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
- 1 package of dry yeast
- 1 1/2 tsp of salt
- 1 cup of warm water
- 1 cup of milk
- 1/2 tsp of cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp of nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp of ground cloves
- 1/2 cup of honey

Caves and Lake in Kephalonia

I saw some photos of the caves in Kephalonia and there's a lake near one of them, too. I think the cave is called Drograti and the lake is Melissani. I got the impression they were close to each other? Are they?

I would love to visit both - seems like such a natural and beautiful place. I don't want it to be busy when I go - what is a good time of year to visit? Do you have any tips?

Did I Miss Turtle Season?

I have always wanted to see the turtles in Kefalonia. They come to the beach to lay eggs or something once a year or so, right? Did I miss it?

I Might have to wait until next year to do this. Does anyone have an advice?

I was originally planning to go n September, but I think if that is the case, I would have missed it?

Best way to get from Athens to Kefalonia?

I am booking my transportation for my trip to Kefalonia. I will have to fly into Athens, and I will be spending some time in Athens (haven't decided how long). From there, I would like t travel to Kefalonia. What is the best way? Should I just do the ferry? I also don't mind flying.

The one detail is that I ideally would like to leave from Kefalonia to go home to the United States. Should I plan on staying in Athens again? Logistically, I know this isn't ideal, to need to leave from Kefalonia for home, so maybe I should split my Athens trip up (about two weeks in Athens) to make it easier on myself?
