I have seen people refer to Milos as the island of love.

I am planning a trip and maybe going to Milos next year.

I know that it is beautiful, and you don't need to be in a relationship to enjoy it. I have never been here- I am trying to visit some places in Greece I have never been.

Any advice on what to see?

I’ve just returned from Milos and its natural beauty is undeniable. To best see it, I would highly recommend spending at least two days on the water. I took the Polco catamaran tour which highlighted the southwestern part of the island; Kleftiko and its caves. I also took the Perseus Tour past Kimolos to the uninhabited island of Poliegos. This trip included a swim in the Blue Bay and a beach picnic on Lighthouse Bay, complete with feeding the wild goats and having the opportunity for more great swimming. You can rent a car to explore the island for the other days; mainly to see the island’s many beaches, Sarakiniko, and the villages of Firopotamos, Mandrakia (Be sure to secure a table at Medusa; it’s worth the wait!) and Klima, with their charming syrmata houses. Personally except for the archeological museum, I was a bit disappointed with Plaka, but maybe I should have gone at sunset. Adamas provided a good base; Pollonia seemed more touristy. I stayed at Iliana Olive Branch (just outside Adamas) and it was AMAZING - totally serene and located in an excellent family-operated boutique hotel and olive grove away from the crowds. The fact that it doesn’t have a pool isn’t important; one has the beach.

One word of caution…..the high wind in Milos can sometimes create a problem with boat trips being cancelled and more importantly, one’s ability to get on or off the island if flights and/or ferries are cancelled. I scheduled the two boat trips for our first two days to allow for re-scheduling if necessary. We had perfect weather for these two days, but unfortunately our morning departure flight was cancelled and we had to wait in Adamas all day with our luggage to catch a ferry back to Athens…..so just factor in enough days when you’re planning your itinerary.

Milos is fantastic - I can see that it is a romantic place. I was there for only a short time this year.

Deborah, really enjoyed reading your explanation! I'll go back to Milos and see more - I was just there for a day with a cruise stop! I got a nice overview, but didn't see much.

k_tsoukalas, Thank you very much. Maybe we saw your cruise ship from our hotel!

Favorite small towns in Greece?

I realized recently that some of my favorite places in Greece haven’t actually been the major destinations everyone talks about, but smaller towns that just had a completely different atmosphere to them.

Sometimes it’s a mountain village with one main square and old stone houses, other times it’s a tiny coastal town where everyone seems to know each other and life moves slower. A few of the places I still think about most weren’t even places I had originally planned to visit.

I’m curious what small towns or villages have really stayed with people after traveling in Greece. Could be because of the scenery, the food, the people, the history, or just the overall feeling of the place.

Would love to hear everyone’s favorites, especially places that don’t always make the typical travel lists.

A Greek Architect’s Guide to Choosing a Professional CT Limo Service

I’m originally from Greece and work as an architect, and due to a recent job rotation, I’ve relocated to Connecticut for corporate projects. Since I’m still getting familiar with the area, I’ve been researching reliable CT limo service options for business travel, airport transfers, and professional meetings. I’ve noticed there are several technical factors people often overlook, such as fleet maintenance standards, chauffeur training, proper licensing, insurance coverage, and real-time ride tracking, all of which seem important for safety and reliability. I came across Wood Black Car Service during my comparisons, which piqued my curiosity about how different companies manage their operations behind the scenes. For those who regularly use limousine services in Connecticut, what features or standards do you think matter most when choosing a truly professional provider?

Festivals of Note for 2026 in Greece?

My family and I are starting to think about a possible trip to Greece in 2026, and this time we’re considering planning part of the trip around a festival or cultural celebration. We’ve been to Greece before, but we’ve never really organized a trip around a specific event.

I know Greece has so many interesting traditions throughout the year. Because of that, I’m starting to gather ideas early while we figure out where we might want to go.

Have any of you traveled to Greece specifically to experience a festival? If so, which ones would you recommend? It could be religious celebrations, food festivals, music events, or local village festivals.
I’d love to hear about any memorable festival experiences that might help us shape our 2026 plans.

Is Island Hopping Worth the Effort?

I've been thinking about trying an island-hopping trip the next time I visit Greece, but I'm wondering if it's actually worth the extra planning and travel time. In the past I've usually picked one island and stayed there for the duration of my vacation, which has been relaxing and let me really get to know the area.

Part of me loves the idea of experiencing several islands in one trip since they each seem to have their own personality, food, scenery, and traditions. On the other hand, I wonder if constantly packing, catching ferries, and checking into new accommodations takes away from the experience.

For those of you who have island-hopped, did you feel it was worth it? How many islands did you visit, and did you wish you had spent more time in fewer places? I'd love to hear your itineraries, tips, and whether you'd do it the same way again.

Best Greek Destinations for History Lovers

I’m thinking about planning a Greece trip next year that is focused almost entirely on history, and I’d love some ideas for the best places to include.

Athens would obviously be part of the itinerary for the Acropolis, Ancient Agora, museums, and other archaeological sites. I’m also considering Delphi, Mycenae, Epidaurus, Olympia, and maybe spending more time exploring the Peloponnese. Meteora is on my list too, although that would add a different type of historical experience.

I’m especially interested in places where you can really spend time exploring rather than just stopping briefly to see one major site.

If you were planning a history-focused trip to Greece, which destinations would you consider essential? Are there lesser-known archaeological sites, historic towns, museums, Byzantine sites, or ancient ruins that deserve more attention? I’d also love suggestions for putting together an itinerary without trying to cover too much ground.
