I have friends who travel to Greece for months at a time and I am thinking about it. However, if I did, I would have to work at least part of the time. I have a full time job and even though I would have plenty of time to see the sites, I do have to tend to my job.

Otherwise I would only really have maybe a week to visit Greece.

Has anyone done a work/travel vacation while in Greece? I am concerned about having internet, especially in some of the remote areas. Are some places better than others in Greece for working while traveling? I know that sticking to the cities, like Thessaloniki and Athens, might be the best bet if I expect to work... but what if I wanted to go to Santorini and work from there or something like that? I have never tried it or heard of anyone who has.

I know, I have always been amazing by how long people are in Greece. In asking around, I realize that most people who do this have a lot of family still in Greece and they may even have their own house. But I do find people who are there for a long time without those factors so who knows. Here are some thoughts:

Accommodation
Greece has plenty of affordable options for where to stay. For low-cost options, hostels and backpacker hotels are prevalent in most cities and offer dorm-style rooms or private rooms. Airbnb is also very popular in Greece and allows you to rent an entire apartment or a private room from local hosts. If you’re looking for more upscale accommodations, hotels, B&Bs, and villas are available too.

Transportation
Greece has an excellent transportation system, and getting around the country is relatively easy especially with the bus or the metro in the bigger cities. Additionally, the ferries are an excellent way to travel between the Greek islands and provide stunning views of the Aegean Sea.

Eating
You can save money on food if you want to by shopping and doing some of your own cooking. In the smaller villages the food is delicious and a lot cheaper in the restaurants than in the cities.

Hope this helps!

For staying connected, cities like Athens and Thessaloniki definitely have reliable internet, but you might need to be more flexible in the islands. I found Santorini had decent options, especially if you stay in the main towns. To balance work and exploration, I made sure to pick accommodations with good Wi-Fi and set clear work hours. Also, I took some hrd corp claimable courses online to improve my skills, which was a nice way to stay productive. It’s definitely doable if you plan ahead and choose your spots wisely.

I see it's been a while since this topic was discussed, but I’m curious if anyone has recent experience working remotely in Greece. Have the internet speeds improved in more remote areas, or is it still best to stick to bigger cities for reliability? Also, how are the co-working spaces lately? I’ve heard Athens has great options, but what about smaller islands?

Getting a Greek digital nomad visa is one option, but if you don’t qualify, you can stay for 90 days in a 180-day period on a tourist visa. Some people do visa runs to nearby countries to extend their stay, though it’s important to check the latest rules. Festivals of Note for 2026 in Greece?

My family and I are starting to think about a possible trip to Greece in 2026, and this time we’re considering planning part of the trip around a festival or cultural celebration. We’ve been to Greece before, but we’ve never really organized a trip around a specific event.

I know Greece has so many interesting traditions throughout the year. Because of that, I’m starting to gather ideas early while we figure out where we might want to go.

Have any of you traveled to Greece specifically to experience a festival? If so, which ones would you recommend? It could be religious celebrations, food festivals, music events, or local village festivals.
I’d love to hear about any memorable festival experiences that might help us shape our 2026 plans.

Favorite small towns in Greece?

I realized recently that some of my favorite places in Greece haven’t actually been the major destinations everyone talks about, but smaller towns that just had a completely different atmosphere to them.

Sometimes it’s a mountain village with one main square and old stone houses, other times it’s a tiny coastal town where everyone seems to know each other and life moves slower. A few of the places I still think about most weren’t even places I had originally planned to visit.

I’m curious what small towns or villages have really stayed with people after traveling in Greece. Could be because of the scenery, the food, the people, the history, or just the overall feeling of the place.

Would love to hear everyone’s favorites, especially places that don’t always make the typical travel lists.

Which Greek island feels the least touristy in the summer?

I know that July and August are busy almost everywhere in Greece, especially on the more famous islands, but I’m curious about places that still feel relatively local and relaxed even during peak season.

I’m not necessarily looking for somewhere completely empty. I’d just love an island where you can still find traditional villages, local tavernas, quieter beaches, and a slower pace without feeling like the entire island is built around tourism.

Have you visited an island in the summer that still felt authentic and not overly crowded? I’d especially be interested in places where locals still seem to set the rhythm of daily life rather than visitors.

Which island would you recommend, and what made it feel less touristy to you? Was it the beaches, villages, restaurants, fewer cruise ships, or just the overall atmosphere?

Places to go for the first time in Greece?

A friend of mine is planning her first trip to Greece, and she asked me what she should prioritize for about 10 days. I’ve been lucky enough to go quite a few times, so I gave her a starting point: Athens for the history, Santorini for the views, and Mykonos for the energy and beaches.

She loved that outline, but she wants to add one more destination to round out the trip. That’s where I started second guessing myself a bit, because there are so many good options depending on what kind of experience she wants.

I was thinking maybe somewhere a little different to balance things out, but I’m curious what others would suggest. If you had 10 days and those three spots already planned, what would be your fourth destination for a first-time visitor?

Why do some score tracking platforms show delayed match updates?

Been tearing my hair out lately trying to follow live matches because some score‑tracking apps update super fast while others lag like they’re stuck in another century. I’m talking minutes behind, not seconds. It’s driving me nuts, especially when I’m juggling fantasy leagues and friendly bets with my buddies. I keep switching between apps hoping one will magically work better, but no luck so far. Is this just bad servers, licensing stuff, or am I using the wrong platforms altogether? If anyone knows what actually causes these delays—or has app recommendations—I’m all ears.
