Now that summer is basically over...when is everyone planning to go to Greece again? Is anyone planning to visit for Christmas or Easter??

I'm fully vaccinated, have a current passport, all ready to go for 3 months (fully paid coz I haven't used up my leave over the past 2 years), just waiting for Australian international borders to open. I'm hoping I can buy tickets late this year or early next year. I can't wait to spend time in Athens again and go and visit some islands. Also planning to fly to Paris for about a week. Hopefully it will become reality and not stay a dream...

I'm fully vaccinated as well and live in AU, partially locked down at the moment.
I'm hoping to travel to Europe next July but I'm not booking flights until very close to the time I will fly out . Even pre Covid I never book far ahead.

Im thinking next summer as well :)

Hey Jerry, hope the borders open up so that we in AU can travel to Greece next year. I'm curious about how you book flights. I usually book for the next Greek summer in Nov/Dec the year before (about 6 months before I fly). That's when the offers seem to be best. I usually fly Emirates and it costs me about $2k per return ticket.

I'd be interested to know how you book your tickets so close to the date and how much they cost you.

All the best,
Vangelis

I have been to many weddings in 25 years.... most of them all nighters into the next day and beyond, beautiful church ceremonies....The biggest was with easily over 1000 people, different parts of the evening....Unbelievably energetic celebrations...❤️❤️.. Let us know how you enjoy yourself....I want to post a video but I must ask my Doctor friend before I do this!

Tips for visiting monasteries in Greece

While visiting the monasteries, remember you are in a sacred place. Dress modestly, with legs and shoulders covered, to show respect for the local customs and faith. Keep your voice low to preserve the peaceful ambiance and adhere to any photography restrictions to respect the privacy of the monks.

I've had some people ask me, so I thought I'd start a post about etiquette. If you are out taking tours and you don't dress properly, be sure to look for a scarf or skirt (for the ladies) that they may provide to make you respectable enough to enter the space. It's far better, though, to dress properly in your own wardrobe!

Loud talking is a no-no. It's also a good idea to observe Orthodox customs when entering the sacred space, even if you aren't Orthodox. Non-orthodox may venerate icons, light candles, submit prayer requests, etc.

Can anyone think of anything else to add?

Travel Tips for Naxos

I'm planning a trip to the island of Naxos soon and I'm reaching out for some guidance and tips.

First off, I've heard that Naxos is a haven for foodies – any recommendations on local foods I absolutely must try or the best places to eat?

Exploring the cultural heritage of Naxos is also high on my agenda. I understand there are plenty of historical sites and ruins that abound. For those of you who've wandered the island's ancient paths, which historical spots would you say I need to see??

Also, I’d love to hear about your favorite beaches. Are there any hidden gems I should know about? Places that aren’t too crowded perhaps?

Thanks!

Parnassos Ski Resort in Greece

Believe it or not, I find skiing in Greece to be pleasant. I know Greece isn't thought to have a climate good enough for skiing, but it's good enough. I have to go to Greece soon, and this is one of my favorite places to ski:

The resort offers outstanding skiing opportunities for all skill levels, from beginners to advanced skiers. With over 40 kilometers of marked ski slopes, Parnassos Ski Resort is equipped with the newest and most advanced skiing equipment to ensure that customers enjoy an unforgettable experience.

There is also a place to stay here, which is nice, plus activities other than skiing to please the family.

Visit the Cyclades Islands - Information and Tips?

I am thinking of visiting some of the Cyclades islands this summer. I've, of course, already done Santorini and Mykonos. I want to do something a bit different.

I am thinking of the following:

- Tinos
- Naxos
- Milos
- Paros

I have some questions:

- When is the best time to visit? I am thinking of going in September.
- Should I ferry hop? That's probably the best way, right?
- How do I figure out where to stay? I love Airbnb - is that an option in Greece?

Thanks in advance!

Beaches on Agistri or Spetses?

I am thinking of visiting some of the islands that are fairly close to Athens/Piraeus.

Two of them that you don't hear much about - like Agistri and Spetses - but I heard that they are worth it to visit, especially for the beaches, especially for Agistri.

Which do you prefer?

I have heard about some beaches on Agistri, but not sure what is available in Spetses.

Here are the beaches I heard about in Agistri:

- Aponissos beach - The beach's calm, crystalline waters and soft golden sands offer a perfect respite for swimmers and sunbathers. Surrounded by greenery and rock formations, the charming cove provides a breathtaking backdrop for a day by the sea.

- Skala Beach - he beach is lined with beach chairs and umbrellas available to rent, as well as a variety of water sports to try. The village behind the beach is packed with tavernas, bars, and shops, offering an array of dining and entertainment options for your holiday.

What do you guys think?
