Has anyone ever been? I'd love some traveling tips!

I haven't been myself, but I've heard amazing things. The village is very much based around its waterfront with many private yachts and small fishing boats. I would love to sit at small waterfront restaurants and enjoy the food and beautiful views. It seems like one of the nices spots on the island! I would totally visit.

Fiscardo is absolutely beautiful, with a good variety of restaurants and bars. The waterfront is so pretty, with all the boats bobbing around and the colourful venetian buildings, and good food can be found everywhere. Prices are a little higher than other villages on the island, but worth it for the beautiful surroundings and stunning views of Ithaca and Lefkado. Some really nice hotels there too. My personal favourite is the Hotel Almyra, which is a 15 min uphill walk from the village, but is absolutely lovely and has wonderful views. Can't fault it!

So true, prices are a little higher but totally worth it. Greece is still quite affordable in comparison to other tourist destinations. You can always haggle at stores (but not too much, you should still pay people what they're worth).

I have actually never been but from what I understand, scuba diving is a popular activity in the area. In general, Kefalonia is known for being a stunning place with a lot of natural beauty, so no matter where you go on the island, there is always a great outdoor activity to try.

Do you mind sharing the picture? I'd love to see what the village looks like

Has anyone visited Myrtos Beach in Kefalonia?

I'm planning a trip to Kefalonia and have heard a lot of great things about Myrtos Beach.

Has anyone on this forum been there? I'm interested in knowing:
  • The best time of day to visit
  • Tips for parking and accessibility
  • Recommendations for nearby local eateries
  • Any must-know tips for first-time visitors (like peak times to avoid, if it's suitable for kids, etc.)
Also, if you have any suggestions for other activities or attractions nearby that are worth exploring, I'd love to hear about those too!

Visiting Lixouri in Kefalonia?

I am planing to go to Kefalonia and want to stay in a town that has a lot going on but maybe isn't so big and overwhelming. I researched and thought maybe Lixouri was a candidate?

This will be my first time on Kefalonia and I am interested in any tips you can give, such as:
  • What are the must-see attractions in and around Lixouri?
  • Can you suggest any hidden gems that a tourist might typically overlook?
  • What's the best way to get around the town and to nearby sites?
  • Any advice on local dining spots or unforgettable culinary experiences?
  • I'm also interested in outdoor activities — are there any particular hikes or natural wonders not to be missed?
  • Lastly, if you have any tips on cultural etiquette or local customs, I’d love to hear about them!
Thank you!

Planning to visit Melissani Cave

I am planning to go to Kefalonia and want to visit Melissani Cave. I am personally very excited about it, but someone in my party is afraid of small spaces (small, dark spaces). Their claustrophobia is actually something they've needed therapy for in the past.

To those of you who have been, do you think this individual should try to find something else to do that day?!

I am not crazy about that aspect of visiting caves either, but I don't have a legit fear like she does. I know that I can relax and enjoy the experience once I get used to the feelings of being in a cave.

What to do in Corfu for couples?

My partner and I are planning a romantic getaway to Corfu, Greece, and we're looking for some insider tips on the best experiences for couples. We've heard so much about Corfu's natural beauty and rich history, but we're hoping to tailor our itinerary to include activities that are especially romantic.

We're open to anything, whether it's relaxing on secluded beaches, exploring charming villages, enjoying candlelit dinners with stunning views, or embarking on adventurous excursions together. Ideally, we'd love to find a balance between leisurely, romantic moments and exciting adventures that we can share as a couple.

If you were us, what would you do while on the island?

Making Christopsomo- Christmas Bread

I will be traveling to Greece this Christmas and I want to make some Christopsomo to give to my family when I go. I have never made it and want to run something by you - do these ingredients look right? It looks very similar to tsoureki to me but with a lot of spices. I am also nervous there's too much flour in the recipe.

- 8 cups or so of all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
- 1 package of dry yeast
- 1 1/2 tsp of salt
- 1 cup of warm water
- 1 cup of milk
- 1/2 tsp of cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp of nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp of ground cloves
- 1/2 cup of honey
