Peak season is over, and I might need to go to Greece in a few weeks. I have never been at this time of year. Is it still beach weather in the Athens area?

I know it might still be beach weather in Crete, but I am not sure I will have enough time to get down there.

The weather is getting cold where I live, and getting some sun will feel fantastic, beach or not.

Out of curiosity, did you end up going to Greece yet? Trying to figure out if it is too late to weigh in...

The further south you go the more likely you are to have pleasant beach weather into the winter. In most places, even in Crete, there aren't a lot of traditional beach days, but the beach still can be nice even if the weather isn't perfect.

Best Islands to Visit - First Time?

It has been so long since it's been my first time in Greece, I didn't know how to answer this. I have a friend who asked.

With so many options, I’m hoping to get some advice on which islands are the best to visit for first-time travelers. My friend is looking for a mix of stunning beaches, charming villages, historical sites, and that classic Greek island vibe.

I was debating whether to tell her some main ones like Mykonos or Santorini or take her off the beaten path? Or do a bit of both? She has about two weeks to travel.

July 2024 sets a record as the hottest month in Greece's recorded history!

Yes indeed, additional precautions necessary at all times especially visiting any outdoor archeological and cultural sites,I remember when I used to visit Delos regularly,it was unbearable, always feeling for my lovely tour guides who had go around the sites, sometimes 3/4 times in that blistering heat!

Best Greek Islands for Food Lovers?

I’m planning my next trip to Greece and, as a big food lover, I’m hoping to explore the islands with the best culinary scenes. I know every island has its own specialties, but I’d love to hear from those who have traveled around—what are the best Greek islands for amazing food experiences?

I’m especially interested in islands where I can find authentic local dishes, fresh seafood, traditional Greek meze, and maybe even unique island-specific specialties that aren’t as well-known. Also, any tips on islands with great local markets, farm-to-table restaurants, or even cooking classes where I can learn to make some Greek dishes would be amazing.

For context, I’ve already been to Crete, which was incredible, so I’d love to find another island with a similar focus on fresh, traditional cuisine. Any recommendations or must-try dishes would be greatly appreciated—thanks so much for your help!
