In Greece, like any other country, you can of course go to a salon to get your nails and hair done. But one of the perks of Greece is that you can find quite a few stylists to do these services in the comfort of your home. You can find these people through word of mouth or even on social media. It’s considered totally normal and super convenient in Greece, even though it may seem strange to those living in other places.

In Mykonos there used to mobile beauticians, manicure, pedicure etc.... most of them knew each other being islanders so it would be coffee time and chatting?....or a few glasses of wine!?.....and more chatting.... you know how it goes... always plenty to talk and catch up on!?

Wow, I had no idea this was so common. It sounds wonderful!

It seems to me that cosmetology services at home are unsafe because people who do not have sufficient professional knowledge and skills work in this way. A good beauty specialist should be trained in such an educational institution as nwcollege.edu and get a certificate of successful completion of their studies. In addition, many beauty procedures require a special room with sterile equipment, and you can get such conditions only in a beauty salon.

On islands where everyone knows eachother, families are raised up in the community, very unlikely to encounter any complications, Having lived in Mykonos for many years the beauticians went to Athens and beyond to be trained professionally. This is an integral part of the culture as a lot of ladies were unable to travel to the beauty clinics and it is coffee and chat time too!..
Just imagine cold winter months....what is better than visits from a daughter of a friend who has grown up in front of their eyes is now a beautiful beautician?!!

It's been awhile but, the convenience of home services for nails and hair in Greece is unbeatable. It reminds me of a time when I was visiting Athens and stumbled upon a local stylist who did wonders with my nails right in my Airbnb. It was so relaxed and personal, unlike anything I'd experienced before. Speaking of nails, if you're looking for some fresh nail ideas, I recently found this amazing website with tons of inspiration.

Yes, in Greece you can book beauty services right at home, which is super convenient for busy schedules or special events. From hair styling and makeup to spa treatments, professionals visit directly. It’s becoming a popular choice for comfort, privacy, and saving valuable travel time.

Festivals of Note for 2026 in Greece?

My family and I are starting to think about a possible trip to Greece in 2026, and this time we’re considering planning part of the trip around a festival or cultural celebration. We’ve been to Greece before, but we’ve never really organized a trip around a specific event.

I know Greece has so many interesting traditions throughout the year. Because of that, I’m starting to gather ideas early while we figure out where we might want to go.

Have any of you traveled to Greece specifically to experience a festival? If so, which ones would you recommend? It could be religious celebrations, food festivals, music events, or local village festivals.
I’d love to hear about any memorable festival experiences that might help us shape our 2026 plans.

Summer Island Hopping Tips - a Month in July

It’s been a while since I’ve traveled in Greece during peak season, and I’m considering spending about a month there in July. The plan is to split my time between Athens (to visit friends) and hopping to several islands. I’m excited about the energy of summer, but I’m also aware that July can be intense in terms of crowds, heat, and logistics.

For those who have done island hopping in high season, what worked well for you? Is it better to base yourself on one or two islands and take short trips, or fully move around every few days? How far in advance do you typically book ferries and accommodations in July?

I’m also curious about pacing. With a full month, I don’t want to rush, but I also want to make the most of being there. Any tips on routes, balance, or things to avoid during peak season would be really helpful.

Family Car Services for First Timer in Boston

Hi everyone, I’m planning a family trip to Boston from Athens and was searching for car service from options airport to my hotel online. While exploring, I came across Blue Nile Livery. I also noticed their service is featured on Google and even highlighted on Forbes, along with positive reviews on several travel sites. Based on what I’ve seen there, their service seems good to me... Since this trip is with my family, I want something safe, comfortable, and punctual for airport transfers and city travel. I’d love to hear from anyone who has used a ride service in Boston. Do you think this would be a good choice for family travel?

Best Way to Get a Car Service to JFK Airport Before a Flight to Greece?

Hi everyone, I'm flying out of JFK next month for a trip to Greece and trying to figure out the best way to get to the airport without the usual stress. My flight leaves early in the morning, and I don't want to deal with parking for two weeks or ask a family member to drive me at 4 a.m. I've been looking into booking a car service to JFK Airport instead of a rideshare, mainly because international flights need more buffer time, and I'd rather have a proper chauffeur waiting curbside than risk a driver cancelling at the last minute with all my luggage in tow. A friend of mine recently used Blue Nile Livery for a JFK run and said her chauffeur showed up early, helped load the bags, and tracked the flight the whole way, so she suggested I try them for this trip too.
I'm still trying to figure out whether it's worth booking the chauffeur service a few days in advance or if that's overkill for a domestic pickup, whether a sedan is fine or if an SUV is smarter given how much luggage most of us end up hauling back and forth to Greece, and if anyone has had a chauffeur reroute or adjust pickup timing because of a flight delay before an international departure. For those of you who fly out of JFK often for trips back to Greece, what's worked best for you, and is there a chauffeur service you'd genuinely recommend for an early morning run like this? Any tips appreciated!

Best food towns to visit in Greece?

I’ve started realizing that some of my favorite memories from Greece are connected to food more than anything else. Little tavernas, bakeries, seafood by the water, village meals that seemed simple but tasted incredible. It’s making me think that next time I go to Greece, I’d love to plan at least part of the trip around food.

I’m not fully sure yet if I’ll be going this summer, but I’ve been daydreaming about possible places to visit. What towns or regions in Greece do you think are especially great for food lovers?

I’d love recommendations for places known for traditional cooking, local specialties, seafood, baked goods, or just amazing tavernas in general. Islands, mainland towns, mountain villages — all recommendations are welcome.

Would especially love hearing about places that felt authentic and memorable rather than overly touristy.
