I think I might want to visit Greece for Christmas this year. Do you have any tips? Some things I am thinking:

  • Seems I might want to be there for a month? Maybe from December 6 to January 6? From what I understand that is considered "the season"
  • I of course want to go to church - especially on key feast days
  • I will likely be staying near Athens with some friends
  • Does anywhere in Greece have any great Christmas markets?

Here are some Christmas markets that I know about:

Athens Christmas Market

Located in Syntagma Square, this market features everything from traditional Greek sweets to handmade wooden toys. It's also a great place for souvenirs.

Thessaloniki Christmas Market

Head to Aristotelous Square to experience the city's Christmas market. There are vendors selling items such as Christmas ornaments, handmade jewelry, and clothing, souvenirs, and more.

Chania Christmas Market

I love Crete - I bet it's gorgeous at Christmas! During the Christmas season, the city transforms into a winter wonderland! The Chania Christmas market features vendors selling local products, holiday treats, handmade gifts, and more.

July 2024 sets a record as the hottest month in Greece's recorded history!

Yes indeed, additional precautions necessary at all times especially visiting any outdoor archeological and cultural sites,I remember when I used to visit Delos regularly,it was unbearable, always feeling for my lovely tour guides who had go around the sites, sometimes 3/4 times in that blistering heat!

Best Islands to Visit - First Time?

It has been so long since it's been my first time in Greece, I didn't know how to answer this. I have a friend who asked.

With so many options, I’m hoping to get some advice on which islands are the best to visit for first-time travelers. My friend is looking for a mix of stunning beaches, charming villages, historical sites, and that classic Greek island vibe.

I was debating whether to tell her some main ones like Mykonos or Santorini or take her off the beaten path? Or do a bit of both? She has about two weeks to travel.

Greece with a Romantic Partner?

My partner and I are planning a trip to Greece, and we’re looking for recommendations on the best romantic spots to visit. We’re hoping to find a good mix of relaxation, beautiful scenery, and some adventure. We’ve heard Santorini is a must for couples, but we’re also curious about lesser-known islands or regions that offer a more secluded, intimate experience.

What are some of your favorite places in Greece for a romantic getaway? We’d love tips on romantic accommodations, great spots for sunset views, and restaurants with a cozy, intimate atmosphere. Also, any suggestions for unique activities we can do together—like wine tasting, boat trips, or scenic hikes—would be much appreciated.

We’re looking to create some unforgettable memories, so any advice you have would be wonderful!

One week itinerary in Greece?

I'm planning a 1-week trip to Greece and definitely want to include Mykonos in my itinerary. However, I'm struggling to decide how to divide my time and what other destinations to include. Ideally, I'd like a mix of relaxation, sightseeing, and some local culture.

How many days should I spend in Mykonos to get the full experience without feeling rushed? Also, what other nearby islands or mainland spots would you recommend visiting? Any must-see attractions, beaches, or hidden gems in Mykonos and the surrounding areas?

Additionally, any tips on transportation between the islands and accommodation recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to hearing your suggestions and advice to make the most of my trip!
