I am starting to make my pack list for Greece. I plan to get there at the end of August. What is the weather like? It's been a while since I've been and I need answers to some questions:

- Does it get cold at night?
- Should I expect some rain?
- How are the winds? Will I need a windbreaker?

Also I am curious about fashion stuff... what do the women tend to wear in Greece? I know that's vague, but I don't want to look totally like a tourist in my wardrobe.

Where are you going? How cool it gets at night will depend on where in Greece you’re going and if there’s a breeze. I usually take a very light-weight black (no button) cardigan just in case to wear over bare-shoulder dresses at night. The change in season with typically some more rain and wind, generally doesn’t occur until the 3rd week in September. Episodes of summer rain are usually intense, but brief unless you’re dealing with a multi-day weather front. A light rain/windbreaker jacket or a travel umbrella could be taken “just in case” but probably won’t be needed.

I like to wear a casual day dress with sandals in Athens, but you’ll see everyone wearing shorts, sneakers, large satchels and backpacks, and HATS! To not stand out too much as a tourist, carrying less is more - the same is definitely true of luggage! A lot of suitcase companies offer compression packing cubes. Honestly for years I’ve used two gallon zip-lock bags, grouped similar items, and managed to pack for 7 weeks (Aug./Sept.,Greece & Italy) in a 22” bag!

I would stick to a more neutral palette with maybe some solid pops of color - and only take clothes that you truly feel comfortable in and that mix well. Suitcase editing is the challenge, but it pays off and it’s been very rare that I’ve wished for something left at home or that I felt inappropriately dressed. Since you’ve been to Greece before, you probably already know what type of clothing worked the best for you. Hope this helps!

Deborah gave some great advice. I have a wardrobe where everything kind of goes together, so I am able to take fewer pieces. I always pack a lightweight covering like a sweater or windbreaker even when I go in the summer.

I would suggest not waiting until the last minute - think about what you need outfits for and lay it all out, and let yourself edit as needed.

Places to go for the first time in Greece?

A friend of mine is planning her first trip to Greece, and she asked me what she should prioritize for about 10 days. I’ve been lucky enough to go quite a few times, so I gave her a starting point: Athens for the history, Santorini for the views, and Mykonos for the energy and beaches.

She loved that outline, but she wants to add one more destination to round out the trip. That’s where I started second guessing myself a bit, because there are so many good options depending on what kind of experience she wants.

I was thinking maybe somewhere a little different to balance things out, but I’m curious what others would suggest. If you had 10 days and those three spots already planned, what would be your fourth destination for a first-time visitor?

Is Island Hopping Worth the Effort?

I've been thinking about trying an island-hopping trip the next time I visit Greece, but I'm wondering if it's actually worth the extra planning and travel time. In the past I've usually picked one island and stayed there for the duration of my vacation, which has been relaxing and let me really get to know the area.

Part of me loves the idea of experiencing several islands in one trip since they each seem to have their own personality, food, scenery, and traditions. On the other hand, I wonder if constantly packing, catching ferries, and checking into new accommodations takes away from the experience.

For those of you who have island-hopped, did you feel it was worth it? How many islands did you visit, and did you wish you had spent more time in fewer places? I'd love to hear your itineraries, tips, and whether you'd do it the same way again.

Why do some score tracking platforms show delayed match updates?

Been tearing my hair out lately trying to follow live matches because some score‑tracking apps update super fast while others lag like they’re stuck in another century. I’m talking minutes behind, not seconds. It’s driving me nuts, especially when I’m juggling fantasy leagues and friendly bets with my buddies. I keep switching between apps hoping one will magically work better, but no luck so far. Is this just bad servers, licensing stuff, or am I using the wrong platforms altogether? If anyone knows what actually causes these delays—or has app recommendations—I’m all ears.

Best food towns to visit in Greece?

I’ve started realizing that some of my favorite memories from Greece are connected to food more than anything else. Little tavernas, bakeries, seafood by the water, village meals that seemed simple but tasted incredible. It’s making me think that next time I go to Greece, I’d love to plan at least part of the trip around food.

I’m not fully sure yet if I’ll be going this summer, but I’ve been daydreaming about possible places to visit. What towns or regions in Greece do you think are especially great for food lovers?

I’d love recommendations for places known for traditional cooking, local specialties, seafood, baked goods, or just amazing tavernas in general. Islands, mainland towns, mountain villages — all recommendations are welcome.

Would especially love hearing about places that felt authentic and memorable rather than overly touristy.

Summer Island Hopping Tips - a Month in July

It’s been a while since I’ve traveled in Greece during peak season, and I’m considering spending about a month there in July. The plan is to split my time between Athens (to visit friends) and hopping to several islands. I’m excited about the energy of summer, but I’m also aware that July can be intense in terms of crowds, heat, and logistics.

For those who have done island hopping in high season, what worked well for you? Is it better to base yourself on one or two islands and take short trips, or fully move around every few days? How far in advance do you typically book ferries and accommodations in July?

I’m also curious about pacing. With a full month, I don’t want to rush, but I also want to make the most of being there. Any tips on routes, balance, or things to avoid during peak season would be really helpful.
