How can I avoid being pickpocketed in touristy areas in Greece?

I had an awful experience being pick-pocketed in France a few years back and I know there are many pickpocketers in Europe. Is Greece the same way? Are there any things I can do to avoid being pickpocketed? And are there any areas that are more known for being dangerous? Thanks
 
I would suggest only to be careful in Athens and Thessaloniki
