I sincerely hope by commencement of the next season proper laws, rules and regulations are in place to be fair to all travellers,I doubt very much if anyone has the power to do anything about this in Mykonos!😂😂

Sadly if not regulated, some will charge what the traffic will bear. We should always follow the lead of the locals.

Most certainly Deborah and how right you are,big changes coming soon in Greek Tourism Industry as a whole including timed, controlled entrances in Parthenon, how on Earth they will implement this?...on the point of what the traffic can bear in Mykonos, some places don't even accept reservations as they are 'pre booked'!!!.. Don't ask how much they pay for them?😂😂

Greece's Third-Largest Island Is An Under-The-Radar Paradise Full Of Uncrowded Beaches.

Greece to tax cruise ship arrivals to protect popular islands from overtourism!

My my,there is also another tax in Pireaus for docking of cruise ships, hasn't the landscape of Tourism Industry changed?!..I like that bit 'To protect the islands!'Now I wander how charging would 'protect the islands'?!🤣... Just the other day Mykonos had 8 cruise ships docked simultaneously with no over crowding!!....so stated the Mayor!🤣🤣The sadest,as always about this is ask anyone who works day in day out if they are rewarded directly for their efforts, especially in the islands which are extortionately costly for the workers for living and accommodation expenses!

Business declines on two islands!

I personally don't know what to make of this!😂..... Having worked in Tourism Industry for many years I never believe statistics(I take them with pinch of salt! 😂).... Quantifying revenue streams from these two Islands especially Mykonos would be a classified confidential subject, perhaps no one know how it is determined!!😂Just a few weeks ago Santorini was restricting numbers,so says the media!?....and now the tour guide says the opposite!....I am going to wait until the end of the summer.Income wise Super Yachts and high end tourism certainly produces substantial revenue,be it may not spreading across, vacant aircraft seats is an indicator of dissatisfied travellers but this has been long time coming!

Staying Near Athens by the Beach?

I'm planning a trip to Greece and will be spending some time in Athens, but I'm also looking to stay somewhere outside of the city that’s near the beach. I’m hoping to find a place that offers a more relaxed atmosphere, where I can unwind by the sea while still having access to some local culture and attractions.

Does anyone have recommendations for coastal towns or beach resorts within a reasonable distance from Athens? Ideally, I’m looking for somewhere that’s not too crowded but still has good restaurants, maybe some historical sites, and, of course, beautiful beaches.

I've heard about places like Sounio, Porto Rafti, and Glyfada—are these good options? Any specific areas or hotels you would suggest? Also, how easy is it to travel back to Athens for day trips if I decide to stay outside the city? Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated!

One week itinerary in Greece?

I'm planning a 1-week trip to Greece and definitely want to include Mykonos in my itinerary. However, I'm struggling to decide how to divide my time and what other destinations to include. Ideally, I'd like a mix of relaxation, sightseeing, and some local culture.

How many days should I spend in Mykonos to get the full experience without feeling rushed? Also, what other nearby islands or mainland spots would you recommend visiting? Any must-see attractions, beaches, or hidden gems in Mykonos and the surrounding areas?

Additionally, any tips on transportation between the islands and accommodation recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to hearing your suggestions and advice to make the most of my trip!
