I am going to Greece in April. I have only ever gone in the summer. What's the weather like? I'll be in Athens and on Crete.

I am thinking the weather will be on the mild side, so I should pack light layers. Like a light jacket, short sleeve shirts, maybe a few long sleeve.

Is it suitable weather for sandals and the beach?

Do they get rain? I am trying to figure out if I need to buy a light rain jacket. I know it doesn't rain that much in Greece.

Thanks in advance!

I would pack layers. Jeans rather than shorts, you might want a bathing suit just in case but you might not need it, and think layers. Like short sleeve, light jacket or sweaters for the night. I would bring sandals for sure but I'd also bring regular walking shoes.

Greece to tax cruise ship arrivals to protect popular islands from overtourism!

My my,there is also another tax in Pireaus for docking of cruise ships, hasn't the landscape of Tourism Industry changed?!..I like that bit 'To protect the islands!'Now I wander how charging would 'protect the islands'?!🤣... Just the other day Mykonos had 8 cruise ships docked simultaneously with no over crowding!!....so stated the Mayor!🤣🤣The sadest,as always about this is ask anyone who works day in day out if they are rewarded directly for their efforts, especially in the islands which are extortionately costly for the workers for living and accommodation expenses!

One week itinerary in Greece?

I'm planning a 1-week trip to Greece and definitely want to include Mykonos in my itinerary. However, I'm struggling to decide how to divide my time and what other destinations to include. Ideally, I'd like a mix of relaxation, sightseeing, and some local culture.

How many days should I spend in Mykonos to get the full experience without feeling rushed? Also, what other nearby islands or mainland spots would you recommend visiting? Any must-see attractions, beaches, or hidden gems in Mykonos and the surrounding areas?

Additionally, any tips on transportation between the islands and accommodation recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to hearing your suggestions and advice to make the most of my trip!

Staying Near Athens by the Beach?

I'm planning a trip to Greece and will be spending some time in Athens, but I'm also looking to stay somewhere outside of the city that’s near the beach. I’m hoping to find a place that offers a more relaxed atmosphere, where I can unwind by the sea while still having access to some local culture and attractions.

Does anyone have recommendations for coastal towns or beach resorts within a reasonable distance from Athens? Ideally, I’m looking for somewhere that’s not too crowded but still has good restaurants, maybe some historical sites, and, of course, beautiful beaches.

I've heard about places like Sounio, Porto Rafti, and Glyfada—are these good options? Any specific areas or hotels you would suggest? Also, how easy is it to travel back to Athens for day trips if I decide to stay outside the city? Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated!

Any Festivals in Greece in the Fall?

I am going to Greece in the fall and some of the trip is open ended. This is for late September.

Are there any noteworthy festivals or events happening in Greece during the fall months? I'm particularly interested in cultural, food, or music festivals that offer a taste of Greek traditions and local life.

I've heard about grape harvest festivals and maybe some regional celebrations, but I'd appreciate any recommendations or insights on specific events, dates, and locations.
