Does anyone know how to read the future using the grounds from a Greek coffee cup? It sounds so cool :)

I think it's something that's passed down from people. Not really something you can learn. I would suggest finding an expert to read your own coffee grounds and maybe they'll teach you some tricks

One of the important assets to reading the coffee grounds is being a good story teller so you get the persons undivided attention and what you are saying/reading sounds plausible. My grandmother and her sister were both good at reading the coffee grounds but no one else in the family took up the practice. When we were in Alexandria, GR last year one of my female cousins was reading the coffee grounds and had the young ladies enthralled with what she saw as their future.

How did they learn to do the readings? Was it passed down in the family?

Yes it had to be that way. because my GM was born in 1894. I'll have to ask my cousin ib Greece where she learned the art of reading coffee grounds. When I find out I'll post the response.

Interesting question. Brings to mind yet another question I wish I had asked my Yiayia before she passed! I'm thinking that if this were something I really wanted to know, this would be a good time to give the few 90+ yr. old Greek women I know a call in the nursing home where they reside..

I received a reply from my cousin in Alexandria. She said her grandmother taught her and if you have a good imagination its easy.

Hmmm that's so interesting. I wonder if I can learn from my family too. Is your family Alexandria, Egypt? My grandma was from there and she was very wise

It seems like one of those things where if you have a good imagination and intuition, as well as being a great storyteller, you can easily "read the coffee grounds". It is a folklore tradition and on some level, I think that people use established teachings from an elder to develop the story. I don't know how to do it!

I gave coffee reading a try after watching a few tutorials, but I still wasn’t sure if I was seeing the symbols right. I ended up chatting with someone through www.trusted-psychics.co.uk, and they helped explain the patterns more clearly. It made a difference, especially since Greek coffee readings can feel confusing at first. They also shared how past readings connected with real situations, which helped me trust the process more.

What alternatives to Linktree offer robust customization for bio links?

Trying to level up my bio link setup because Linktree feels kinda stiff for what I want to do. I’ve been tweaking my branding this year and I need something that lets me mess with colors, layouts, maybe even some light animations without feeling boxed in. I’m running a mix of art commissions and small merch drops, so having more control would help a ton. If anyone’s found a link-in-bio tool that lets you get creative without needing to code like a pro, I’d love to hear what’s working for you.

Are most Greeks left or right?

Are most Greeks liberal leftist progressives? Most that I encounter are. Not only that but self hating. WHY?

Greek Easter Celebrations in Greece?

I’ve been thinking a lot about Greek Easter lately and realized I don’t actually know what it’s like to experience it in Greece itself.

I grew up with the traditions here, like church services, red eggs, the midnight “Christos Anesti,” and of course the big Sunday feast, but I’m curious how it all feels in Greece. Is the atmosphere different? More intense? More communal?

What are the days leading up to Easter like there, especially Holy Week? Are there specific customs, processions, or local traditions that stand out depending on the region?

I’ve also heard things about candles at midnight, fireworks, and entire towns participating, how true is that?

Would love to hear from anyone who has experienced it in Greece or grew up there. What are the moments that really define Greek Easter for you?

Best Christening Gifts for a Close Friend's Child?

What are some good christening gifts for the child of a close friend?

It’s been quite a while since I’ve been to a Greek christening, and the last one I attended was for a relative, so I’m realizing I’m not completely sure what is considered appropriate these days.

Since this is the child of a close friend, I’d like to give something a little more meaningful than just a standard gift, but I also don’t want to overdo it. Are religious gifts like an icon, cross, or children’s Bible still common? Would money, jewelry, or something personalized be appropriate?

I’d also be interested to know whether there are certain gifts that are traditionally given by family members or the godparents that I should avoid duplicating.

What have you given for christenings recently, especially when the child belonged to a close friend? I’d love some ideas that feel thoughtful and appropriate.

Anyone here struggle with outpatient rehab not being enough?

I’m curious if anyone else has been through this. I’ve been trying to get sober for a while now and started with a standard outpatient program because it seemed easier to balance with work and daily life. At first it felt okay, but after a couple weeks I noticed I was slipping back into old habits way faster than I expected.
It kinda feels like once the session is over, you’re just thrown back into the same environment with very little structure or support. I’m starting to wonder if outpatient is just too “light” for some people, especially if relapse has already happened before.
Has anyone here switched from regular outpatient to something more structured like IOP or medication-assisted treatment? Did it actually make a difference, or was it just more time in treatment with the same results?
Would really appreciate hearing real experiences — good or bad.
