This square was originally named after the Christian Brotherhood of the Youth of Thessaloniki, also known as XAN for short. You can visit the State Museum of Contemporary Art, the Tower of OTE and International Trade Fair!! I highly suggest you check it out

Xan Square is a place that I try to visit every time I am in Thessaloniki. I don't always visit all those places, but I do like to be at the square quite a bit. It's a great place!

Agreed! Just being in the area is really nice to walk around and visit shops, there's always something to stumble upon even if you don't have your whole day planned out with sightseeing

Exactly, to take in the energy. It's a great place, one of my favorites in the city.

Where else do you recommend in Thessaloniki?? :)

These are the top three beaches in Thessaloniki

If you ask me, I personally don't love going to the beach near the city. I find that the beaches aren't the best, but if you're touring the city and interested in going for a quick swim, these are your best options. The video does a great job of showing exactly what the beaches are like! Websites will show you photoshopped pictures that are edited to show the clearest waters and cleanest beaches. That's why I like to go to YouTube to see the reality of what I'm signing up for.

Day Trips from Thessaloniki

What are some good day trips to do while in Thessaloniki? Some ideas to start:

- I know there are some great beaches in the area
- Did I see that Meteora is doable for a day trip?
- Are there any day cruises to nearby islands or anything?

Thessaloniki as a honeymoon or wedding destination...

Someone in my wedding party suggested I look into Thessaloniki as a possible wedding and/or honeymoon destination. What do you guys all think? I have never been - but it seems to have much of what I am looking for - beaches, history, night life, the crowds are healthy but not completely crazy in the peak of the summer (which is when the wedding might be)... How are the beaches? How is the nightlife?

Share Photos of Thessaloniki!

This is one of my favorite places. I thought I would create a space for us to share our favorite photos. I'll start!

I love the White Tower in Thessaloniki...

I love cities that have beautiful landmarks. Thessaloniki wouldn't be the same without the white tower! I thought I'd share a pic of the place. Please share yours if you have them... it's really a great, iconic place with lots of history.
