Crete has a lot of covid cases and is currently under a small lockdown. There are a few restrictions in places like no music and there is a curfew in Heraklion. Everyone please beware this can possibly deter some travel plans

That makes a lot of sense to me. The languages may not come from the same root, but it isn't like Greek and Mandarin for example

That sounds like true paradise! I've had similar experiences, having so much fun that I jump into the pool with clothes on ahaha the wine got to our heads and we couldn't resist cooling down in the water

I tried Tasos Taverna thank you so much for the suggestion!!!!! I wish I took pictures but I ate the food so quickly that I didn't get the chance. The owners were sadly not there so I couldn't say hello, but the service was absolutely excellent and the food was amazing. I would say this holiday...
