What to do in Faskardo Village on Kefalonia

I visited this village once maybe eight years ago and I want to go back. I have some notes about the things to do there. I am wondering if anyone has any thoughts. Did I miss anything? I want to take my family there because I found the place to be really beautiful.

  • Stroll the Waterfront Promenade: Enjoy a leisurely walk along the picturesque harbor with its array of colorful fishing boats and yachts.
  • Explore Historical Venetian Architecture: Take in the charming Venetian-style buildings that survived the 1953 earthquake, giving Fiskardo its unique character.

  • Join a Boat Tour: Embark on a boat excursion to discover remote beaches, hidden coves, and the stunning coastline around Fiskardo.
  • Visit the Fiskardo Nautical and Environmental Museum: Learn about the maritime history and natural environment of the region through engaging exhibits.
  • Hike to the Lighthouse: Follow the scenic trails leading out of Fiskardo to the iconic lighthouse and enjoy panoramic views of the sea.

If you have a car take the ferry to Ithaki and explore the Island .

Good catch on the spelling! Hopefully he'll see it and correct it. I have never been, but it looks like a great place!

If you go to Fiskardo you must have lunch at Tasia's at least once.

What does Kefalonia look like in spring?

I’m thinking about planning a trip to Kefalonia, and I keep wondering what the island is like in spring. I’ve only seen photos from summer, when the beaches are packed and the hills look golden and dry, but I’ve heard that spring is a completely different experience.

If you’ve been there in April or May, I’d love to hear what it’s like! Is the landscape really as green and full of wildflowers as some people say? Are the hills and olive groves especially lush that time of year? I’m also curious if the weather is warm enough to enjoy the beaches or if it’s more of a hiking and exploring season.

Are most tavernas and shops open, or does it still feel sleepy before summer kicks in? I haven’t booked anything yet, so I’d love to know if spring is a magical time to go or if summer is better.

Best Time of Year to Visit Kefalonia?

5-Day Kefalonia Itinerary for First Time Visitors?

I’m planning my very first trip to Kefalonia and could really use some help building a 5-day itinerary. I’ll be visiting this summer and want to make the most of my time without feeling too rushed.

I’d love a mix of beautiful beaches, local villages, great food, and maybe one or two cultural or nature-based experiences like caves, wineries, or monasteries. I’ve heard great things about Myrtos Beach, Assos, and Melissani Cave, but I’m not sure how to organize the days or which area to stay in as a base.

Should I stay in one place the whole time or split my stay between two areas (like Argostoli and Fiskardo)? I’ll have a rental car, so I’m open to exploring.

Driving Advice in Kefalonia?

I’m of Greek descent and visit Greece almost every year, so I’m no stranger to renting a car and getting around. but I’ve never driven in Kefalonia before. I’m thinking about making the trip next summer, though it’s not 100% decided yet, and I’m wondering what to expect.

I’ve heard that Kefalonia has some narrow, winding mountain roads, especially around Myrtos Beach and heading toward Assos. Is it really challenging to drive there, or is it manageable if you take it slow? How are the road conditions overall? Are there plenty of signs in English as well as Greek?

Also, what’s parking like in popular areas such as Fiskardo, Argostoli, and near the major beaches? I’m used to village driving on the mainland, but islands can be different.
